1902

Stationery and office supplies store

Bookbinder Paul Basse Sr. founds a stationery and office supplies store with an attached bookbindery. It supplies the domestic industry with business stationery. Shortly afterwards, the company invests in its first platen with foot operation. A trend-setting investment that marks the entry into the printing industry.

1927

GROWTH DESPITE THE CRISIS

BasseDruck survives the First World War and the turmoil of the 1920s and celebrates its first anniversary. Another production building is inaugurated as part of the anniversary celebrations.

1931

Paul Basse jun.

Paul Basse jun. joins the company and expands the customer base. Many of these companies are still among BasseDruck’s top customers today.

1941

Company founder Paul Basse Sr. passes away and Paul Basse Jr. takes over full responsibility for the company. Just one year later, he has to do military service. The popular businessman remains missing in action during the war. Hanna Basse has the company and two young sons.

1945

Karl Winterhoff continues the work of his cousin Paul Basse jr. and expands the company with diligence and expertise. The most difficult years in the company’s history are led by him.

1945-1960

Expansion of the production area and further investments in technology. The previously used lead typesetting is supplemented by phototypesetting for the offset printing process.

1960

The founding grandsons Paul Basse senior, Paul-Dieter Basse and Harald Basse join the company.

1968

Start of calendar production. To this day, it remains an important building block for BasseDruck with a high export share.

1975

Harald Basse joins the management board.

1981

Purchase of the first 4-color machine in 3-B format.

1981

The constant change from letterpress to offset printing, accelerated production of print media and the addition of computer typesetting to phototypesetting require investments on an unprecedented scale. BasseDruck invests millions.

1990

The fourth generation follows with Hendrik Sebastian Basse.

1994

Move into a further extension, expansion of the production area to 5,000 square meters; as well as further investments in machinery for prepress, printing, finishing and calendar production in the following years.

1998

Paul-Dieter Basse sells his shares to his brother Harald in 1998.

2001

Hendrik Sebastian Basse joins the Management Board.

2002

100 years of BasseDruck – the slogan for the anniversary is “100 years of the future” – heralding the start of the next chapters in the company’s history.

2002-2010

Further extension to expand logistics and expansion of machinery with folding machine and Polar high-speed cutter.

2010

Installation of a Heidelberg 5-color press with coating.

2011

Marcel Winterhoff, a grandson of Karl Winterhoff, takes over the management of the BasseDruck publishing division.

2014-2018

Installation and commissioning of a Heidelberg 10-color press, expansion and updating of the machine park in finishing / folding machine and relaunch of the BasseDruck logo.

2018

Marcel Wittler is the 5th generation of the family to join the company. He takes over the calendar production.

2019

BasseDruck launches new sales channel www.individuell.com.

2019

With the installation of a Heidelberg 8-color machine with coating, the entire machine park is now state-of-the-art.

2020

Jeremy Müller is the second member of the 5th generation to join the family.

2021

Further expansion of the production area and investment in a new CTP platesetter, as well as the introduction of a new ERP system for optimum control of administration and production processes.

2022

BasseDruck celebrates its 120th anniversary.

2023

New construction of the MarktPlatz – it combines sales, graphics and pre-press. Open spaces promote exchange, ideas and consultation – for customer-centered thinking and active collaboration at BasseDruck.
